다음은 모질라 표준방식과 쿼크모드 처리방식 사이에 존재하는 차이를 대략적으로 소개한 것입니다. 이 목록은 2001년 7월초를 기준으로 한 것입니다. 그 시점이후 가장 중요한 변경은 폼 제어관련 쿼크 내용이 많이 제거되었습니다. 또다른 주목되는 변경은 표준방식에서 text/css 이외의 MIME 형식을 가진 CSS 스타일시트를 제외한 것입니다. 

The following is a rough list of the differences that exist between Mozilla's standards mode and quirks mode behavior. This list is current as of early June 2001. Since that time the most significant change has been that many of the form control-related quirks have been removed. Another often-noticed change is that, in standards mode, we reject CSS stylesheets that have a MIME type other than text/css.

  • 잡다한 내용 & 스타일
    • quirk.css에 있는 모든 스타일 규칙은 적합합니다.
    • 권고하는 text/css라는 mime 형식이 있는 문서에 연결된 스타일시트는 서버가 text/css 이외의 Content-Type 머릿단 정보를 보내더라도 CSS로 처리되게 됩니다.
    • CSS 해석기는 #으로 시작하지 않는 색상을 받아들입니다.
    • CSS 해석기는 단위가 없는 숫자를 px로 해석합니다.(단 font-size는 Nav4가 처리하는 것이기 때문에, 그리고 line-height와 분명한 의미있는 다른 속성이 있는 경우는 제외됩니다)
    • HTML 색상은 다르게 해석됩니다(#은 필요하지 않으며, 빠진 숫자가 이유없이 채워집니다)
    • background 속성의 공백 문자열은 배경 URL을 쿼크모드에서만 공백으로 설정합니다.
    • 시스템 글꼴은 네비게이터 쿼크모드에서 다르게 작동합니다(다르게 작동하기 때문에 시스템 글꼴을 사용하지 않아야 합니다.)
    • HTML(1-7)과 CSS(xx-small-xx-large)의 글꼴 크기는 다소 다르게 계산됩니다. (버그 18136을 참조하세요)
    • 목록 항목점은 쿼크모드에 있는 목록의 글꼴 크기를 상속하지 않습니다.
    • 선택자에 태그명, id, 또는 속성이 없다면, :hover 라는 준클래스는 링크, 이미지, 그리고 폼제어에만 적용됩니다.

    　

    • All of the style rules in quirk.css apply.
    • Stylesheets linked in the document with an advisory mime type of text/css will still be treated as CSS even if the server gives a Content-Type header other than text/css.
    • The CSS parser accepts colors not beginning with #.
    • The CSS parser interprets unitless numbers as px (except for font-size because that was what Nav4 did, and except for line-height and any other properties where they have distinct meaning).
    • HTML colors are parsed differently (# is not required, and missing digits are filled int differently)
    • An empty string for the background attribute sets the background URL to empty only in quirks mode.
    • System fonts work differently in navquirks mode (shouldn't the form controls that use them be the ones working differently instead?).
    • HTML (1-7) and CSS (xx-small - xx-large) font sizes are calculated slightly differently (see bug 18136).
    • List bullets do not inherit the font size of the list in quirks mode.
    • The :hover pseudoclass will only be applied to links, images, and form controls, unless the selector includes tag names, ids, or attributes.

    　

  • 구역과 인라인 레이아웃

    • Nav4에서 하던 것으로, 부모요소가 고정된 높이를 갖지않을 때 CSS가 비율 높이는 'auto'처럼 처리하라고 하더라도 이미지, 테이블, 객체, 그리고 애플릿의 비율(%) 높이를 처리할 수 있게 하는 쿼크가 많이 있습니다. 어떤 내용인 지 보고 버그 41656과 중복내용도 보세요. 이들 쿼크 일부는 다른 효과를 만들기도 합니다. (버그 54119를 참고하세요)
    • HR 요소는 쿼크와 엄격모드에 다르게 취급되며 말할 것없이 둘다 틀린 것입니다.

    　

    • [This quirk is present in almost standards mode.] Line height (not line-height) calculations are different to fix bug 5821 and bug 24186 (some other issues are described in bug 22274).
    • There are a bunch of quirks to get percentage heights on images, tables, objects, and applets (etc.?) to "work" (the way they did in Nav4), even though CSS says that percentage heights should behave like 'auto' heights when the parent element doesn't have a fixed height. See a description. See also bug 41656 and its duplicates. Some of these quirks may cause other effects (see bug 54119).
    • The HR element is treated differently in quirks and strict mode (and arguably wrong in both).

    　

  • 테이블
    • 테이블 배경색상은 다르게 작동합니다.(버그 4510을 참고하세요). 쿼크방식으로 처리해야 하는 지는 분명하지 않습니다.
    • 쿼크방식에서 absmiddle (부정확하게 처리하는 듯)와 middle (마찬가지로 부정확하게 처리하는 듯)은 테이블 셀에서 align 값으로 처리되며, 그리고 absmiddle, abscenter, 그리고 middle 은 테이블에서 지원되며 이것은 center와 같은 것으로 취급합니다.
    • TD, TH, TR, THEAD, TBODY, 그리고 TFOOT 요소는 이들에 적용되는 문서 배경과 색상을 가지고있습니다.(버그 70831 또한 참고하세요)
    • empty-cell 속성은 쿼크방식에서 hide를 기본으로 하지만 CSS2 표에 따르면 엄격방식에서는 show가 기본입니다.
    • 쿼크방식에서 유동 테이블이 다른 유동 테이블에 들어맞지않으면 다음 "행"으로 이동하지 못하며, 페이지를 그냥 넓혀주기만 합니다. (버그 43086을 참고하세요)
    • 쿼크방식에서 colspan="0"과 rowspan="0"으로 HTML4에서 설명된 것처럼 처리되지 않습니다.
    • hspace와 vspace는 쿼크모드에서만 TABLE에서 지원됩니다.
    • 쿼크방식에서 테이블이 inset 또는 outset이라는 border 스타일을 가질 경우, border 색상은 테이블의 배경색상 또는 가장 가까이에 있는 비-투명 배경을 따릅니다.
    • 쿼크방식에서 border를 가진 테이블 셀은 최소크기 1픽셀을 가집니다.
    • 쿼크방식에서는 기본적인 테이블 레이아웃 전략은 padding을 무시합니다.
    • 기본적인 테이블 레이아웃 전략은 넓이를 방식에 있어서 다르게 처리합니다. 

    　

    • Table background colors work differently (see bug bug 4510) It is not clear that this quirk is needed.
    • In quirks mode absmiddle (handled incorrectly?) and middle (perhaps incorrectly as well?) are accepted as values of align on table cells, and absmiddle, abscenter, and middle are supported on tables (treated the same as center).
    • TD, TH, TR, THEAD, TBODY, and TFOOT elements have the document background (and color?) applied to them (when the document background is specified in certain ways?) (see also bug 70831 ).
    • The empty-cells property defaults to hide in quirks mode but show (according to CSS2 errata) in strict mode (see bug 33244) (though the correct fix would be to specify it on the HTML TABLE element in quirk.css).
    • In quirks mode floated tables never move to the next "line" if they don't fit next to other floats, they just keep widening the page (see bug 43086).
    • In quirks mode colspan="0" and rowspan="0" are intentionally not handled as described in HTML4.
    • hspace and vspace are supported on TABLE only in quirks mode.
    • In quirks mode, when tables have a border style of inset or outset, the border color is based on the background color of the table or of the nearest ancestor with non-transparent background.
    • In quirks mode table cells with a border have a minimum width of one pixel.
    • The basic table layout strategy ignores padding (on what) in quirks mode.
    • The basic table layout strategy handles widths differently in some way.

    　

  • 폼
    • 버튼 입력내용은 그 크키를 다르게 계산합니다.
    • 표준방식에서 BUTTON 요소는 type 속성이 빠진 경우에만 전송할 수 있습니다.
    • 텍스 입력내용과 텍스트를 포함하는 다른 폼제어는 그 크기를 다르게 계산합니다. (원래 수정사항에 대한 설명과 제안내용도 bug X를 참고하세요)
    • 버튼의 INPUT 요소와 SELECT 요소의 글꼴은 다르게 계산됩니다.
    • 라디오 그룹에서 하나의 버튼이 항상 기본으로 선택되는 HTML의 요구조건은 쿼크모드에서 적용되지않습니다.

    　

    • Button inputs calculate their size differently.
    • In standard mode a BUTTON element (?) can submit only if it lacks a type attribute.
    • Text inputs (and other form controls containing text???) calculate their size differently (see bug X for the description of the original fix and also bug X for suggested modifications)
    • The fonts for button INPUT elements and SELECT elements are computed differently.
    • The requirement of HTML that one button in a radio group is always selected (by default) is not enforced in quirks mode.

    　

  • 프레임
    • 쿼크방식에서 FRAME 상의 marginwidth와 marginheight은 BODY 전체에 영향을 주게 됩니다.
    • 프레임 크기 사양에서 0*은 1*로 처리됩니다.(버그 40383을 참고하세요)
    • 프레임에서 scrolling 속성은 다르게 처리됩니다.

    　

    • In quirks mode marginwidth and marginheight on a FRAME are propagated to the contained BODY.
    • In a frame size specification 0* is treated as 1* (see bug 40383).
    • The scrolling attribute on FRAME is handled differently.

    　

  • HTML 해석기
    • 쿼크방식에서, HTML 주석은 "--"을 주석의 시작과 마지막 부분의 구분자로써 처리하는 대신에 구버전의 브라우저와 호환될 수 있는 방식으로 해석합니다.
    • In quirks mode, we parse HTML comments in a way compatible with older browsers instead of treating "--" as the comment start and end delimeter
